CCERCI’s researchers have been able to fabricate a paper/thread-based wearable patch to be utilized in combination with smartphone technology for smart, non-invasive and in situ multi-sensing of sweat biomarkers including glucose, lactate, pH and chloride, and also sweat volume. This smart wearable patch, developed at Nanosensor Bioplatforms Laboratory of CCERCI by Dr. Hamed Golmohammadi and Sina Ardalan, was patented at the United States Patent Office (Fluorescence sensor for detecting biomarkers in a sweat sample, US Patent, US 20210310953 A1). Given the advantageous capabilities of the patented smart wearable sweat patch as an as an ultra-low-cost (~0.03 $ per sweat patch), user/environmental-friendly, portable, selective, rapid, and non-invasive healthcare monitoring device, it can be potentially exploited for immense applications in health personalization, sports performance monitoring, and medical diagnostics. |
