Iran and Malaysia Expand Scientific Cooperation

A number of Malaysian delegates, headed by Mr Haji Mohd Zaki Bin Zakaria, the Acting Deputy CEO of Education Malaysia Global Services, paid a visit to the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT), to have a meeting with Prof. Salar Amoli, the Acting Minister for International Scientific Cooperation of the MSRT. In this meeting, existing cultural and religious communalities of the two countries were highlighted and emphasis was made on the importance of expanding the scientific cooperation between the two countries.

In this meeting, discussions on the possible fields of cooperation and initial arrangements was made for the forthcoming visit of the Malaysian Minister of Higher Education. Moreover, opportunities, capacities and achievements of each country were highlighted and the following were introduced as MSRT’s main policies: ‘transfer of knowledge and commercialization of research’, ‘expansion and enhancement of technical and vocational training programmes’, and ‘ internationalization of the higher education in Iran’.

The two sides also referred to signing of MoU, defining road map of cooperation, exchange of academics and students, sabbatical leaves, mutual short-term bursaries, establishment of branches of Iranian universities in Malaysia, etc. as the main fields of future cooperation between the two countries.
